Skye has moderately long grey hair that covers the left side of his face, which was tied in a short ponytail [after he escaped, he cut it off.]. He is missing his left eye, which remains an empty socket. He hides the fact with his hair. His right eye, however, is a color of murky brown, and reveals little about his character. He usually has a pleasant smiling expression on his face. Clean-shaved, he is slightly tanned. He appears to be slightly muscular, but is stronger than he looks.
He wears a belt with the crest of the Hylian knights, but has thrown away the armor he had worn as one. Instead, he wears a coat-like garment over his undecorated tunic. He wears leather boots reinforced with plates of iron, and has a pair of gauntlets. He usually wears a broad-rimmed hat, and only takes it off when indoors. He carries a wooden walking-staff, and has a long, thin sword [similar to a rapier] on the right of his waist. He has hung a lute on a leather strap over his shoulder.
Personality: Skye is a man of mysteries, unwilling to reveal his past to those he cannot trust. With a smile on his face and the lute in his hands, he appears to be a wandering musician; Skye was actually a Knight of Hyrule, but refuses anything to do with the group. He shows little respect for the Royal Family or the Gods. Shrewd and perceptive, he notices some things faster than others. He is kind to strangers, and is willing to help others reach their goals. He hates liars and personal insults.
Despite this serious attitude, Skye is also quite frivolous, enjoying good food and good drink, and especially good company. While he doesn't like telling his story to others, he will sit down with a bunch of strangers in a bar and drink. His favorite drink is mead. He also tends to mock or taunt his opponents in battle, but he usually spares their lives should he win. He does not fight seriously with youngsters or women.
General Abilities:
Weapon Proficiency [Polearm]: Even a simple, oaken walking-stick becomes a weapon in Skye's hands. Using long, sweeping and quick jabbing attacks, combined with other moves that use his momentum wisely, Skye is a formidable enemy. His training with such weapons dates back to his days as a Knight of Hyrule, when he was expected to become a master in that field. The only weaknesses to his style is that he can't cover his blind spot [directly behind himself] with his attacks, and it becomes disadvantageous should the opponent press too far and bring the fight to a melee brawl.
Improvisation: Skye's strength doesn't lie in his skills with his sword, but with his lack of a definite rythm to his attacks. His fighting style centers on the "bit of everything" method, since he will adapt his attacks to suit his purposes. He has learnt the basics of most styles of swordsmanship in Hyrule, but claims to use none: instead, he mixes them all together and creates a chaotic medley. Using his light sword, physical blows, and perception, Skye can launch a series of attacks that defeats/baffles most enemies. Since his weapons of choice are polearms, he only uses his sword in places where such weapons would be disadvantageous: for instance, inside an area with a low cieling or with not much room to move about.
Versatility: Know the phrase "jack of all trades, master of none"? Skye is an embodiment of versatility, being capable of using various weapons with varying levels of accuracy and mastery. He was never taught how to wield, for instance, blunt or ranged arms, but years as a fugutive and as a soldier has trained him to become adept at turning anything into weapons. He learns rather quickly, either from experiencing the style first-hand or seeing someone demonstrate the moves. His copy, of course, will never be the same as the real one, but he matches his lack of skills with a confusing mix of what he has learnt during his 26 years on Hyrule.
History: Skye was born in an average Hyrulian household, taught to respect the Royal Family and the tree Goddesses. Showing skills in wielding the sword, Skye was sent to the Castle Town barracks, where he trained under some of the most influential Knights of Hyrule. He did not enjoy the rough training and practices, and decided to no longer pursue the way of the sword; instead, he asked his master if he could be trained in the art of wielding staves and spears. He gladly accepted, as the Knight knew it was hard to press someone to train in something they have given up on. Because of his master's open attitude and his own efforts, Skye was able to become one of the famed Knights himself at the age of 19.
He was sent to the Palace, where he was tasked with the mission of defending the Royal Family, along with a whole squad of trained Knights. He followed the Royal princess as a bodyguard; his morning started with accompanying her to her daily walks and he fell to sleep in front of the doors to her chambers, spear in hand. He grew to respect the princess for her will and beauty, and kept her safe from any dangers.
But one day, soldiers stormed the Palace. The guards, Knights, and Skye fought valiantly, but they were steadily defeated. Skye fell unconscious at the steps, his spear broken and his helm cleaved in two; he woke up inside the royal chambers, into which he had never gone in his life, and with the swords of the guards pointed at his throat. A trial was held, after which Skye was found guilty of both treason and murder of a Royal Family member. Having the burden of the whole affair placed on him, he was locked in one of the deepest dungeons inside the Palace, where he had to cope with his wounds, the absence of his left eye, and the dismal conditions. While it was too much for him to handle, he managed to survive, biding his time. From what he heard the other prisoners talking, they were all the victims of political quarrels; some of them were guards and knights, having fallen into disgrace for having failed missions or just because some of the nobles feared their rising powers.
Skye grew steadily disillusioned in the Royal Family and the Goddesses, instead becoming more and more bitter towards life. Three years in prison had reshaped him completely, and he now sought a way to get out. He decided to tempt fate. One day, he pretended to choke on his meal, and collapsed in the middle of his cell. The others called the guards, who, after checking his heartbeat get fainter and fainter, threw him in a sack and took him outside. Inside the smelly old bag, Skye swallowed the morsel and let out a gasp of relief. The soldiers threw him in a pile of reeking trash. Skye managed to crawl out, and he was free!...but also smelly. The first thing he did was bathe in the nearby lake. He staggered around, eventually reaching Lon Lon Ranch, where he sought shelter and work.
He was, of course, handed the most menial of tasks by the irresponsible owner, but managed quite well. He made friends with the others, telling stories of the past and the feats of the Knights of Hyrule. After he had become considerably more "human" -- having regained his weight, strength, and former prowess, Skye departed, giving his thanks to the rancher and his family. He now ventures the lands, a wandering bard who sings for money. He has no definite goal in life, but seeks...something. He doesn't know what it is yet.
